short description of project : A series of site-specific spatial drawings. Constructed from old military aerials, the drawings will be loosely based on landscape observations and cross-based motifs. |
about
current work : The direction of my work originates from investigations into a sense of place and how it is intrinsic to, or even formed by, our relationships with the object world. Essentially; how objects mediate between man and nature, objects function between us and are a deep-rooted element of our culture, but once removed they begin to exert a different status; to take on their own persona. I endeavour to examine each of these observances on both a personal and communal level involving landscape as a common denominator. With a non media specific practice, what remains consistent is my interest in drawing in relation to a sense of place or space. It is not about concealing or modifying but attempting to make that which ordinarily exists more apparent. Making bold statements out of the ordinary or insignificant. |
