project :
ELEVATOR is a collaborative piece. The artists are partners with a baby
boy. They explore the ups and downs, testing and building of
relationships within
the parameters of budget travel as it pertains to a young family.
The artists ric SPENCER and sarah ELSON come from disparate working backgrounds which have both been fruitful in their own ways. But their work, in general, owes much to their collaboration within their relationship and the ‘boundaries’ of their burgeoning family. They come together in this piece to comment on their current situation and the sometimes claustrophobic but always uplifting experience of being a young family on the road.
sarah ELSON has honours degrees from Curtin University, Perth, Australia and an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea School of Art, London. She has exhibited widely across Australia and in London over the last 13 years. She has also been the recipient of a number of high calibre awards, recognising her outstanding achievements both in visual Fine Arts and three dimensional crafts.
ric SPENCER is currently
enrolled on the Doctor of Creative Arts course at Curtin University,
Perth, WA. He has a 1st class BA from Curtin University and Glasgow
School of Art and has exhibited extensively, worldwide. He received
the Australian Post Graduate Award with Stipend in 2001.
