Current work surrounds notions of the architecture of memory, the construction of popular culture, cultural deception and the psychology of pleasure.

about the artist:

Alex Hetherington is a new media artist and writer.

Recent work includes Glasgowland, a short film and web project commissioned by Channel 4 Television/MESH, Harmony Research a CD-Rom, and the publication of a short story, The Tramway, in Shorts 5, Scottish Arts Council/Polygon/Scotland on Sunday.

Solo shows include an untitled installation at The Collective Gallery, Edinburgh, based on a book by Gary Indiana, an untitled video projection with Fabienne Audeoud for the Birmingham Arts Trust and a public art project in Glasgow using footage and research materials from The Exorcist.

His writing on art, design and cinema has been published in The List, Transmission Gallery, Glasgow Film Office, Sculpture Matters and Stretcher, San Francisco. He has also undertaken a residency project with Forced Entertainment in Sheffield. Recent articles include new work published in Graphic Design/Impress, South Korea.

He trained in Fine Art at Grays School of Art and the BIAD.
