Dark Light Dark Light will use simple electronic abstraction to elicit deep emotional response from the viewer. From Blenheim’s ongoing investigation into the qualities and aspects of light, this new site-specific installation will explore light’s facility as a fluid medium to engage in conversation with an audience, to elate, to hold still, and to humble. “White light and steel, ash salt and dusty bones combine to create an open cage, a leaking star and the footprints of the dead.” Sally Blenheim graduated from RMIT’s Media Arts programme in 2001 since which her screen-based animations have been shown nationally on SBS and ABC. Blenheim was selected for both the St. Kilda Film Festival and RESFEST, while the interactive video installation ‘Dirty Pillows’ toured nationally with Experimenta’s ‘House of Tomorrow’ during 2004. In addition to New Ruins, in 2006, Blenheim will undertake the prestigious British Council artist’s residency in the Gasworks Studios, London. |
