Spaulding will produce a site-specific sound piece for a padded cell in the Old Watch House, using the loaded context to connote phenomenological experience through atmosphere. Using both field recordings and generated tones and frequencies, she will examine the inherent qualities of interior and exterior sound. Two audio tracks, audible simultaneously through speakers at floor-level and open-air headphones, will lay the framework over which the viewer will map their own experiences.

In a second work Spaulding will use light or video to create new space within the pre-existing site, introducing intangible elements to re-articulate perceptual spatial experience.
