E m e r g e D Edinburgh present ZUG, the first zine commissioned for the [00/00] programme.

Surreptitiously distributed in random sites around the city and available from galleries and shops, ZUG can also be ordered direct. Please email zugmag@hotmail.com for more details.

For a free copy of ZUG come along to Diane’s Pool Hall at 7pm on Wednesday 27 April.

Rejoicing in my newly named boredom i saw that the
smoke exhaled from my cigarette, the
booze stained air around my head, the space frozen with
concentration between my own
hand of card and my opponents-
was not just wasted time, not just ways of using up seconds till i die,
they are ZUG!!!

This zine is about boredom, made by bored people for others who are bored. A conglomeration of doodles, word games, poetry, cartoons and collage show what happens when artists are sidetracked from the serious game of art by booze, fags and playing….

E m e r g e D are committed to the creation and support of new platforms for artists which operate outside the conventional gallery system. ZUG has collected together texts and drawings created specifically for the context of a zine giving the artists involved a chance to work in a different format and experiment with new ideas.

E m e r g e D

Based in Glasgow since 2002 E m e r g e D have showcased the work of over 300 artists in a variety of sites including vacant shop fronts, churches, derelict cafes, youth hostels and shopping centres. E m e r g e D has now expanded into Edinburgh offering local and international artists new opportunities to show their work and engage directly with audiences outside the traditional gallery setting.

Devised by a team of locally based artists and curators the programme ‘[00/00]’ will act as a flexible platform for site-responsive art. Each month an individual or group of artists will be commissioned to produce work in spaces throughout the city.
