E m e r g e D Leeds presents a resourceCITE event
SOUND ART / MUSIC / VISUAL ART / NOISE / CONTEXT / LOCATION
/ AUDIO
An evening of live performances, video work, presentations
and discussion to bring together artists that cross the boundaries of visual
art, sound and music, with specific focus on the importance of location and context,
and the relationship between sound and the visual.
The evening will consist of presentations by:
steven DICKIE
Steven is a Scottish artist working with experimental sound and video within
a context based practice. He explores the relationship between technology
and society through work that utilises interactions between space, art and
audience.
laurie CROMBIE and venya KRUTIKOV (Kazimier22)
Kazimier22 organise multi-disciplinary, artist-led events around the country.
Utilising non-conventional spaces and promotional techniques to create unique
environments for exhibiting time-based work.
And performances by:
andy ABBOTT and dave RONALDS
Quiet guitar loops and wind (instrument) noise from Black Dogs members.
christophe DeBEZENAC (tenor saxophone) & chris
SHARKEY (laptop) (LIMA)
An improvised duo performance exploring interplay between acoustic and processed
sound, using stereo close mic'ing to explore the range of sound and minutae
that occurs undetected in conventional acoustic recording/performance methods.
phillip HENDERSON
“I noticed that if you play 12 drones simultaneously you have all the
composite frequencies you need for all music. In theory I play all possible
melodies from past, present and future at once in suspension, on the electric
harmonium. This is anchored by the rhythms I play on drums or drum machines”
With a special screening of work by paul
ROONEY. Paul’s
work investigates the way sound can activate memory and the altered sense
of space that occurs when we hear voices and music.
